About Me

Hi there. I’m Patrick.

I grew up on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Graduated with a B.A. in English, kinda looked around at the job market in Hawaii for someone with an English degree and saw how misrable it was. Left my friends and family – all whom I miss dearly – to teach English in Japan. First on the JET Programme and then with the Board of Education in the city I live in.

With much resistance the first couple of years, I’ve took to Japan like a duck to water. I’ve grown to love Japan, even it’s wacked-out crazy strange methods in approaching certain things – like driving, so much that I’m currently studying for the level 2 Japanese Language Proficiency Test to prolong my stay here for as long as possible. Really, really long. Like lifelong long.

Former geeky fanboy (careful geeky referrences a’plenty) and motorcycle enthusiast (sigh), my interests now lie in taking road trips, finding the perfect Tantanmen Ramen and soaking in as many onsen (hot springs) as I can.

Oh, and, of course, jiu-jitsu.
