Training Session – March 18th

What we did:

Light stretching

Takedowns

  • Reviewed all takedowns – Dead drill 5x each side

New Techniques

  • Armdrag –> single leg takedown – leg in-between
  • Armdrag –> single leg takedown – leg against near side body

Live sparring – full resistance, off balance, reset – 5 min

Groundwork

New Techniques

  • Bravo half guard –> Old School
  • Bravo half guard –> Electric Chair
  • Half guard top has underhooks –> butterfly guard –> hook sweep
  • Half guard top has underhooks –> backdoor sweep

Chain drill – pass guard, go to half guard, work sweeps – run through

Dead drill – ankle lock – 10x each side
Dead drill – ankle lock counter – 10x each side

Positional Sparring from the guard – sweep, pass or submission, reset – full resistance – 5 min
Open Sparring starting from the guard – full resistance, no submissions – 5 min

Feedback

Observations on Session:
Nice. The feedback at the end of the session really is helpful in terms of saying where we’ve been, how we did and what we need improvement on. Had that back home with only one guy and that kind of feedback, that kind of training partner is priceless.
